Thunderbird is a Vancouver, BC based motion picture company that collaborates with talented producers. Together, we finance, produce and distribute programming that maximizes the financial and creative benefits of Canadian co-production. We are committed to a premium finished product that appeals to broadcasters world-wide.

Today, we have in excess of 400 hours of content on US television. Our programming also airs on major networks around the world.

Bios


Tim Gamble, CEO

A founding partner of Thunderbird, Tim Gamble oversees all business operations, with a particular focus on corporate finance, and strategic alliances, as well as Executive Production services of feature films and television series. Prior to forming Thunderbird, Tim founded and served as president of Peace Arch Entertainment Group (TSX, AMEX) from 1982 until 2002.


Michael Shepard, President

A founding partner of Thunderbird, Michael Shepard oversees all business operations, including the acquisition of programs for international distribution, Executive Production services of feature films and television series, and overseeing the world-wide marketing and sales of all programming. Prior to forming Thunderbird, Michael ran his own company, Squadron Entertainment, and held the position of Vice President of Development at Muse Entertainment in Toronto, and Vice President, North American Sales at Canamedia Productions, also based in Toronto.


W.D. Cameron White, Director

A founding partner of Thunderbird, Cam White works in an advisory capacity for the team, particularly related to aspects of corporate finance and deal structures, legal issues, and overall company strategy. After graduating from UBC Law in 1981, Cam became a securities lawyer at Worrall Scott & Page, and subsequently, White & Associates from 1992 to 1994. From 1995 until 2002 Cam served as Chairman of Peace Arch Entertainment Group, Inc. Currently Cam is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Thunderbird Energy Corp. (TSX Venture).


Barb Harwood, Chief Financial Officer

Barb Harwood is Chief Financial Officer of the Thunderbird Films group of companies and is responsible for corporate and production finance, accounting and taxation. Barb obtained her CA designation while working for Ellis Foster Chartered Accountants (now Ernst & Young) as manager of the entertainment division, and was CFO for Paperny Films prior to joining Thunderbird.

Barb is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a BA in Film.


Alex Raffé, Head of Production

Alex has been producing for 25 years. Her feature film credits (I've Heard the Mermaids Singing, White Room, Zero Patience, The Lotus Eaters and I Love a Man in Uniform) have collectively won 11 Genie Awards, and she executive produced Flower & Garnet, which won the 2003 Claude Jutra Award. Alex acted as supervising producer for three seasons of Zixx for Treehouse. Alex spent four years as the CEO of the Ontario Film Development Corporation (1994 to 1998), and has served on the Boards of Film Ontario and the National Screen Institute.


Joe Broido, President Thunderbird USA

Joe Broido has a wealth of experience in series and longform creative development, production, and production finance. He has functioned as a Producer and Executive Producer of over forty telefilms and miniseries for broadcast and cable networks worldwide, including NBC, CBS, ABC, Global, Lifetime, SciFi and Disney. With significant experience in international production and co-production, he has functioned in a senior executive capacity for several domestic and international production organizations, including PorchLight Entertainment, Paragon Entertainment, Broido at Alexander/Enright, and Fred Silveman Productions. He has mounted wholly sponsored films for advertisers such as Hallmark Hall of Fame and Bristol-Myers. Additionally, productions under his guidance have garnered numerous awards and nominations, including: Gemini, Emmy, WGA, Peabody, Christopher, Humanitas and Golden Globe awards.


Brooke Zanette, Controller

Brooke Zanette is the Controller of Thunderbird Films Inc. and is responsible for assisting the CFO with corporate and production finance, accounting and taxation.

Brooke obtained her CA designation while working for DH Group LLP and gained further experience while working in the assurance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Brooke holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.


Nicola Pender, Executive Assistant

Nicola Pender is the Executive Assistant of Thunderbird Films Inc. and is responsible for all administrative functions including managing the office, media relations, marketing, web support, assisting with accounts payable, festival registration, and coordinating awards entries. Previously, Nicola worked as a freelance editor and researcher for Vancouver magazine and was the office manager at a national event company.

Nicola graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA in English Literature and Art History.


Curtis White, Corporate Development

Curtis works in all facets of Thunderbird's corporate development. This includes generating creative materials for annual sales conferences, coordinating financings and addressing investor inquiries. Curtis graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance.


Andre Cauchi, Director of Sales and Development

Andre Cauchi is the Director of Sales and Development and is responsible for the acquisition and sales of both original and acquired content. Prior to joining Thunderbird, Andre spent several years in distribution with Telegenic Programs and Amberwood International, both Canadian production and distribution companies. Most recently, he held the position of Manager of Canadian Independent Production with TMN and prior to that, Associate Director, Programming with Movie Central, both of which make up Canada's premiere Pay TV services.


Stephen Cheikes, Director

A partner of Thunderbird Films, Stephen Cheikes is advisor to the team on all aspects of company business. A graduate of Cornell University, Stephen practiced Entertainment Law in Los Angeles from 1977 to 1987. In 1988 Stephen relocated to Vancouver to become a principal of the Beacon Group of Companies, and then in 1997 co-founded, and became Chief Executive Officer, of Monarch Entertainment Corporation.
