| SUNSHINE COAST BRITISH COLOUMBIA, CANADA, May 27th, 2004---Sleepwalker Films, Thunderbird Films and Program Partners announced today that principal photography has begun near Vancouver on the psychological thriller, "Desolation Sound," starring Jennifer Beals and Ed Begley, Jr. Scripted by Glynis Davies and directed by Scott Weber, "Desolation Sound" is the story of two best friends who share everything, until one realizes she has also been sharing her husband. The discovery soon inspires a tragic event. "We have a tremendous cast," said "Desolation Sound" Producer Mary Anne Waterhouse. "I can't wait to begin." Ms. Waterhouse recently completed production of the Sony, ABC, Stephen King series, Kingdom Hospital. The film will be released theatrically in Canada by Equinoxe Films who recently released "The Passion of the Christ", and previously had success with "Mambo Italiano" and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". According to Yves Dion, Vice President, Distribution, "we are thrilled to be part of this tremendous project. It is a very good script -- and ultimately that is what it's all about". First time feature director is Vancouver based, Scott Weber, who has earned a reputation as one of the best industrial and installation film makers in the world. His large format 70mm films have been featured at World Expositions, and are exhibited in such diverse locals as Singapore, Korea, Japan, Italy, and Portugal. In addition to her groundbreaking work in "Flashdance," Ms. Beals has appeared in a number of award winning films including "Mrs.Parker and the Vicious Circle," "In the Soup, "Devil with the Blue Dress" and recently "Roger Dodger". She is currently a series lead in Showtime's "L Word." "Desolation Sound" also stars Ed Begley Jr. as Doug, the local sheriff. Mr. Begley is most famous for his Emmy nominated portrayal of Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the television series "St. Elsewhere." Mr. Begley's thirty years in film and television have resulted in literally hundreds of film and television credits, most recently "Six Feet Under" and "Kingdom Hospital", as well as the Warner Bros. feature "A Mighty Wind." Award-winning French Canadian actor, Lothaire Bluteau also appears in the film, along with Ian Tracey, a Gemini award winning actor, and Helene Joy from the series "An American in Canada." "Desolation Sound" Executive Producers are Michael Shepard and Tim Gamble of Thunderbird Films. Heather Howe, Lynne Carrow, and Kirsten Newlands are Associate Producers.
